Aloe vera & beehive products
For
thousands of years, the health benefits of the aloe vera plant have
been known to mankind. The ancient Egyptians used it, as well as
in ancient China and India. The aloe vera plant is a succulent and
may look a lot like a cactus, but does actually belong to the same
lily family as onions, garlic and asparagus!
Aloe vera has natural anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial properties. For a product to work properly, aloe needs to be the main ingredient. To know if it is, check the list of ingredients to see if aloe is the first ingredient in the list. A lot of products on the market today are labelled aloe vera this, that and the other, but usually, they only contain a tiny amount. The International Aloe Science Council is an independent regulatory body which monitors the quantity of aloe in products. If their Seal of Approval actually appears on the container (not simply a claim), it is genuine.
Beehive
products
Not only do our little friends pollenate flowers and give us tasty honey, bees do so much more. There is wax, royal gelly and something called propolis, which is an antibacterial substance bees cover foreign bodies with that enter the beehive, to make sure the hive is kept clean.
As a child, I used to suffer from eczema behind the knees. For this, I was given cortisone creams, but it did little to help. My mum had heard of another kind of cream not found at the doctors, made with bee's wax. Not only did it stop the horrible itching, it also got rid of the eczema. Never had a problem since.
I am an independent distributor for Forever Living Products, who offer health
and nutrition supplements, as well as beauty products and make-up. Many of these
products are safe to be used with animals as well as humans. For me, the most
important question when it comes to beauty products is if they have been animal
tested. Forever Living Products do not test their products on animals.
