About me
"Everyone has their purpose to fulfil. Some are advisors, or helpers, or teachers. Some are all of those. What you are, is up to you." - Daisy (cat)
Hi
there! My name is Sofia Meaden, I was born in the early '80s and
grew up in Stenungsund on the west coast of Sweden. Did Media Studies
in school, and later went on to a professional education in radio
broadcasting in Båstad - home of the Swedish Open tennis tournament.
I moved to Nottingham in the end of 2004, after finding what is
now my wonderful husband. For a couple of years, I worked as technical
support for a leading home electronics chain in the UK and Scandinavia,
but decided to leave that place behind to work with something I
love: animals.
Apart from the obvious interests (animals, healing, radio, that sort of thing), I enjoy photography, web design, reading and writing, Irish folk music, Sam Neill movies, Harry Potter, and snooker!
Millwood Cat Rescue
Between moving to England and getting a job as a caged hen in a callcentre, I was a volunteer at the Millwood Cat Rescue in West Bridgford, which is just around the corner from where I live. It gave me a chance to do good and to cuddle loads with all the cats there, especially since my own was still over in Sweden. Unfortunately, I could not continue there when I started working full time. Since I no longer have the time to volunteer there, I try to do my best to contribute in other ways, as sadly, the vet bills never cease. That is why I have put a symbolic sum on some of the services I offer. The money that comes in there will go directly and in full to Millwood, so that they can continue their very important work for cats in need. If you would like to donate more than the price listed on the site, feel free, it's all needed.
My Animal Communication Journey
I
came in to contact with animal communication the first time through
a program on TV when I was about 9 or 10 years old. I thought it
was really fascinating there were people who could talk with the
animals, and was really curious to know what our little rabbit was
hopping about pondering. When I became cat-owned in the summer of
2003, I started to think about animal communication again. Was there
no way of learning it, somehow? During a visit to London in November
that year, I got hold of the book "Straight From the Horse's
Mouth" by Amelia Kinkade which was impossible to put down.
There was probably not a single page in the entire book I did not
sympathise with completely! I started practicing a little on my
cat, but it was so difficult to tell if it was her I "heard",
or just my own ever-chatting inner voice. I promised myself I would
attend a course, if I could find one.
In the beginning of 2005, I came into contact with Mr. James French and Ms. Shelley Slingo, who offer courses on animal communication here in the UK. I booked a consultation with James, as the big question for me at the time was whether or not my cat should move over to me in England. She was prepared, with passport, vaccinations and the lot, but did she really want to move, or would she rather stay at home with my parents in Sweden? I did not want such a major question about her future to be decided by anyone but herself, and to ask her myself... No, I would just hear what I wanted to hear.
I
was amazed at how well James described her personality to me, and
that he knewabout things I had not mentioned a word to him about!
As it turned out, Daisy felt the bond to me was stronger than the
one to my parents, so in the end of March 2005, she emigrated as
well. She was the most calm cat they had ever seen, the cargo staff
at Landvetter Airport explained - but on the other hand, she was
so prepared for what was going on that she did not need to be afraid.
In the end of December that year, I went down to Birmingham to attend the workshop ACT1 (ACT = Animal Communication Training). Wow, animal communication was not very strange at all! ACT1 is a one-day workshop where you learn the basics in communicating with animals. If you want to work with it professionally, or perhaps just learn more about it, you can attend the practitioner program, ACT2, which I did in September/October 2006, and finished the final assessment at the beginning of April 2007.
My Healing Journey
A
few years ago, everywhere I went, I kept hearing or reading about
Reiki. A lot of people would call this a sign, and eventually I
said "Okay, fine, I get it, I'm supposed to do Reiki!"
but the opportunity to learn it was not to appear until I moved
over to England. I got my level one attunement in the end of October
2004, and the second level attunement mid-March 2005. Since then,
I have been learning more about it and practicing it on myself and
the family (animals included), as well as on plants. I have also
picked up a few variations on the energy healing theme since then.
The main focus is still Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki ("normal"
or "common" Reiki). Nowadays, I am trying to learn more
about optimising the use of Reiki for the benefit of the animals.
My Aloe Vera Journey
My aloe vera journey has only just begun. I signed up as a Forever Living Products distributor because I thought it would make a good compliment to working with animals and healing.
